President of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Dr. Hemraj Sharma has appealed to the people who suffered from the severe floods in Nepal to celebrate Dashain by standing with them.
Conveying good wishes on the occasion of Bada Dashain, Dr. Sharma said that Dashain is not only an occasion for festivals and celebrations, but also a festival of family reunification, renewal of mutual harmony and the human spirit of supporting those in distress.
"This year, while we are sharing Dashain happiness, we cannot forget the suffering of Nepali families affected by natural calamities. Especially the loss of property caused by the floods and landslides in Bhotekoshi area and the difficult situation of the displaced families have saddened us all. It is our humanitarian responsibility to stand with the victims in such a crisis. The Non-Resident Nepali Association has tried to fulfill this responsibility through relief distribution, health camps and providing necessary support to the affected communities," he said.
I express my heartfelt gratitude to the non-resident Nepalis, national and international coordination councils, various organizations, donors and volunteers from all over the world who extended their support in this campaign. Your support has proved that the love for the motherland, the sympathy for the suffering Nepalis and the power of collective efforts are boundless even though they are abroad," said Dr Sharma in his message.
"May this auspicious occasion of Dashain bring happiness and closeness to every family, give courage to the families that have been hit by calamity and give us all the motivation to contribute more positively to the society and the nation. May happiness, peace, good health and prosperity prevail in the lives of all Nepalis living at home and abroad. Come, let's share happiness in this Dashain, support each other in sorrow and resolve to build a united Nepali community," said President Sharma.
The association said that by the last 10 October 2026, more than Rs. 10 million 75 lakhs of aid has been collected and out of it, relief materials have been distributed to nearly 2,500 families in 9 flood-affected districts. Similarly, in the health camps run by the association, about 1,200 people were examined and medicines were distributed. The association has also said that aid materials worth about 62.5 million rupees have been distributed to the affected communities.
