23 October, Kathmandu. The construction of the bridge over Rautahat Lalbakaiya river has reached its final stage.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, the construction of all 6 spans of the bridge has been completed. Besides, Minister Sunil Lamsal informed that now the work of footpath, railing and expansion joint has been completed.
The contract for this bridge was signed in 2071 with the goal of completing the construction within three years. With the delay in the construction, the construction company was blacklisted and the government invited the contract again in 2079 for the remaining work.
Even after a year of signing the new contract, the construction work could not proceed. Minister Lamsal said that the responsibility of the substructure built under the old contract was not clear and due to insufficient budget allocation, the construction was delayed.
He said that after identifying the problem, the responsibility of the old construction work was clarified through the division office and the construction was speeded up by fully managing the necessary budget.
At present, the work of approach road and river training is continuing, his secretariat said, quoting Minister Lamsal.
