28 October, Kathmandu. The government is going to spend 6.54 billion rupees in the current financial year to improve the physical infrastructure of 109 community schools where more than 2,000 students are studying.

The budget has been allocated for the construction of modern buildings and infrastructure expansion in those schools. According to the Secretariat of Education and Sports Minister Sasmit Pokharel, 5 billion 34 crore rupees have been disbursed for 89 schools in the first phase.

According to the ministry, a 12-room, three-story building will be built in the school with the disbursed funds. Classrooms, laboratories and libraries will be arranged in the building, which is estimated to cost around Rs 6 crore per school.

Minister Pokharel has said that priority has been given to improving the infrastructure of public schools that have a large number of students. According to him, the number of students in some public schools is increasing, while some schools are facing the problem of lack of students.

"While it is a matter of happiness that there is a high number of students in some public schools, we are equally aware of the fact that some schools are going through a shortage of students," said Pokharel, "we have now started improving the infrastructure of large schools to reduce this disparity between schools."

He has also expressed his commitment to improve the educational quality and physical infrastructure of all community schools in the future and end the disparity between schools.

He said that the cooperation of teachers, parents and students is necessary for improving the educational quality of community schools and developing infrastructure.
