It is predicted that the weather will be mainly clear throughout the country during this year's Dashain. As the monsoon is over, it is seen that the westerly winds will have only a partial effect over the country and the weather will not hamper the Dashain festivities in most places. However, there is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki regions.
Meteorologist David Dhakal of the Department of Water and Meteorology said in a conversation with Nepal News Bank that the weather will be favorable in most places during the Dashain period. According to him, caution should be taken while traveling as there may be light rain and snow with thunder and lightning in some hilly and mountainous areas.
Chance of rain and snowfall in hilly and Himalayan areas in Phulpati
Phulpati i.e. October 31 is expected to be partly cloudy in the hilly areas of the country. It will be generally cloudy in the Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki states, while there is a possibility of partly cloudy in the Himalayan regions of other states.
Along with Madhesh, there will also be partial clouds in the Terai region of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki regions. The weather is expected to be mainly clear in Lumbini and Terai region of Far West Province.
On the day of Phulpati, there may be light rain and snow with thunder and lightning at one or two places in the hilly areas of the country and the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki states, the department said. During the night, there will be partial cloud cover in the Himalayan region and there is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in one or two places in the Himalayan region of Koshi, Gandaki and Karnali regions.
In some places of Terai, there may be fog and fog in the morning, so caution should be taken during the morning journey.
Even in Ashtami, there may be rain in the hilly areas
There is a possibility of partial cloud cover in the Himalayan and hilly areas of the country on Ashtami i.e. October 1st. Partly cloudy will also occur in Terai region of Madhesh and Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki regions. It is expected that the weather will be mainly clear in the Terai region of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim Province.
On the day of Ashtami too, light rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning may occur in one or two places in the hilly areas of the country and in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
During the night, there will be partial clouds in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini regions. In the Himalayan and hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces, the weather is expected to remain mainly clear. The department has informed that there may be fog and mist in some places of Terai in the morning.
Clear weather in most places during Navami and Dashami
On October 2, 3 and 4, i.e. from Navami to Dashami, the weather is expected to remain mainly clear in most parts of the country.
During this period, the Himalayan and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces as well as the Himalayan regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces will be partly cloudy. The department is forecasting that there is a possibility of light rain and snowfall at one or two places in those areas.
Tips to check the weather forecast while travelling
Overall, it is seen that the weather will be favorable in most parts of the country during Dashain this year. It is expected to make it easier for those who plan to go home, meet relatives and travel on Dasain.
But those who travel in hilly and mountainous areas should pay attention to possible rain and snowfall. Similarly, it is necessary to be careful as the morning mist and fog may affect the road travel in some places of the Terai.
Before leaving for Dashain journey, the department has advised to check the updated weather information and take necessary precautions in the areas where there is a possibility of adverse weather.
