In Khotang, a group of active youth is going to conduct 'Dashain-Tihar, gift campaign to girls-2083'.
The campaign has been started to bring girls who are in poor financial condition or in trouble due to lack of transportation services to their mother's house to celebrate Dashain-Tihar and return them to the work house from the mother's house. The group has been conducting this campaign for three years.
Coordinator Sanjay Kumar Rai informed that preparations are being made to conduct a free transport service campaign on the occasion of Dashain from 3rd to 6th of Katik and on the occasion of Tihar from 24th to 26th of Katik.
"The campaign has been prepared in two phases with a plan to take the girls who are not able to go to their matrimonial homes due to lack of transport services and lack of expenses", he said. Coordinator Rai informed that special priority will be given to women, children, old age and disabled people during the campaign. In the campaign, men will also be served as needed.
35 youths have registered to participate in the campaign. "The number of young people willing to volunteer is continuing. We have planned to provide service up to 35 kilometers of various road sections of Madhyapahari Lokmarg and Everest National Highway and all rural roads of the district", he said. According to him, those who want to take the service have also started to note the details. The first priority will be given to those who have noted down the details, and free transport service will be given.
Those who want to avail the free service can carry only bags weighing up to five kg. Since most of the roads in the district are in rough condition, the weight has been determined keeping in mind the risk of accidents, informed Rai, the coordinator of the campaign.
This group provided this service to 345 people in 2081 and 700 people in 2082 through the campaign. It is said that about four lakh rupees will be spent for the campaign, which is being conducted with the financial and technical support of well-wishers. Rasas
