31 October, Kathmandu. Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav has said that Vijayadashami is not only a matter of religious faith but also a celebration of the victory of human values, morality and virtue.
On the occasion of Vijayadashami 2083, he said that Badasai, which carries the message that truth, justice, religion and virtue will finally prevail, will provide an opportunity for people to self-examine their conduct and behaviour. "Vijayadashami further strengthens the belief that the victory of humanity, conscience and moral strength over untruth, injustice, discrimination, violence and negative tendencies will be ensured", said the Vice President in his greeting message.
Mentioning that Vijayadashami will promote tolerance, self-discipline, restraint and loyalty to duty in the society, he said that Dasai will inspire people to move forward on the path of cooperation, dedication, harmony and human sensitivity by abandoning vices like greed, hatred, arrogance, jealousy and enmity.
According to him, Vijayadashami has special importance to maintain a balance between internal purification of the individual and social responsibility.
Mentioning that Dasai is a great festival of reunion and intimacy, Vice President Yadav said that people who are away from family and community due to education, employment, business or other reasons meet their loved ones on this occasion and renew their relationship. "Blessings of the elder, respect for the elder and exchange of affection for the younger gives an opportunity to strengthen family and social relations", he said, "In this sense, Vijayadashami is not limited to religious rituals but established as a celebration of social unity and human relations."
Stating that traditional rites, folk art, folk music, cultural practices and community activities have enriched the national identity, he said that festivals like Vijayadashami have an important contribution in the preservation and promotion of such cultural dimensions.
Stating that social harmony, national unity, mutual respect and the spirit of coexistence are more necessary in today's changing world scenario, the Vice President wished that Vijayadashami would provide inspiration to rise above division and animosity and move towards common national interest, social harmony and building a prosperous Nepal.
He wished happiness, peace, prosperity, good health, longevity and progressive progress to all Nepali sisters and brothers at home and abroad, wishing Vijayadashami 2083 to start a new chapter of hope, energy, confidence and success in the life of every Nepali citizen.
